Closer Than You Think

Do you feel like you're "far from God"? Do you feel like you've been wandering and drifting for so long that the road back seems VERY long? Are you afraid to try to travel it because you'll probably just fail miserably again?

I wonder if that feeling is simply because you're facing the wrong way. If you're walking away from Jesus, rather than following him, then there is no Jesus in your field of vision. Of course it will seem like he is, or you are, far, far away.

Here's where the Word of God needs to trump your feelings.

Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (see also James 4:4-10 and Acts 17:26-27)

No matter how far you wander from Jesus, he’s near to you. Just turn around, and you'll see. Yes, the road back to soul health and fruitfulness might be a long one, but you won't have to walk that road alone.
