Love at First Sight

Fanny Crosby (1820-1915), prolific writer of gospel songs and hymns like "To God Be The Glory" and "Blessed Assurance," was blind.

When asked by a preacher if she was upset that she was never able to see. She said, "No."

When asked, "Why?"

She replied, "Because when I get to heaven, the first face that will ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior."

  1. We have so much to learn about how to be joyful in all circumstances. Here a woman who was blind could respond with such faith..is it any wonder she could write such beautiful prayers to our Savior! Thanks for posting and reminding me just how much I have to be thankful for in life. I could never understand how one could live, overcome, and be joyful under such circumstance. But she truly knew her name was written in the Book of Life, she knew by faith Jesus and realized just how fleeting life really is... So when we think we have it bad, we need to remember all our faithful brothers and sisters who rejoice and are so thankful to our Lord!
